Baseball Book Report #4 - Forever Blue

Book number 4 on this week's list is:

Forever Blue: The True Story of Walter O'Malley, Baseball's Most Controversial Owner, and the Dodgers of Brooklyn and Los Angeles - Michael D'Antonio

For the longest time, Walter O'Malley was demonized for moving Brooklyn's beloved Dodgers to Los Angeles. This book paints him in a different light as a pioneer, blazing the way for baseball in the west. He helped bring a tradition of winning to Dodger Baseball that spanned over decades and he played a much larger role in helping Jackie Robinson break the colour barrier than Branch Rickey would have credited him for.

Though they were rivals, I'm sure that both Branch Rickey and Walter O'Malley would be rolling over in their graves if they saw the state that the Los Angeles Dodgers are in now. Being used as a pawn in divorce proceedings and teetering on the verge of irrelevance in baseball's weakest division.
